Retriever App
Privacy Policy

Your footage stays yours.

1. Who is responsible

Antón López, a sole trader based in Spain (NIF [tax ID], [address]), is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [support email].

2. What never leaves your Mac

Retriever indexes and searches your videos, photos and audio on your Mac. Your files, the index built from them, your searches, the people and voices you name and everything else about your library stay on your device. The app sends no analytics or usage telemetry.

3. What is collected, and why

  • Your email address, to create your account, send you sign-in codes and link your purchases to it.
  • Your Macs: the name you give each one, when it last checked in, and a salted one-way identifier of the Mac. They are used to apply the device limit and to allow one free trial per Mac.
  • Your IP address when a trial starts, stored with the trial to limit how many trials can be started from one network.
  • Your plan and purchases: what you bought, when, and whether it is active, plus the reference Stripe gives your customer record.
  • Payment details are collected and processed by Stripe; I never see or store your card number. Stripe keeps billing records (name, address, tax ID if you give one) as required for invoicing and tax.
  • The waitlist: if you join it, your email address.

The legal bases are the performance of the contract (account, license, purchases), legal obligations (invoicing and tax records), and legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the free trial. The waitlist is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. Who processes it for me

  • Stripe — payments, invoices and the customer portal.
  • Render — hosts the account server and its database, in Frankfurt (EU).
  • Resend — sends the sign-in codes by email.
  • Cloudflare — serves this website and the app downloads.
  • EmailOctopus — keeps the waitlist.

Some of them may process data outside the EU; when they do, it is under the safeguards the GDPR requires (such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses). When the app downloads its models, the servers that host them (Hugging Face and GitHub) see your IP address, as with any download.

5. How long it is kept

Account data is kept while your account exists. Purchase and invoicing records are kept for as long as tax law requires. The record that a Mac has used its free trial is kept so that it cannot be used again. Waitlist addresses are deleted when you unsubscribe or once the list is no longer needed.

6. Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, its correction or deletion, to restrict or object to its processing, and for a copy to take elsewhere, by writing to [support email]. You can also complain to the Spanish data protection authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, aepd.es).

7. Cookies

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Stripe’s checkout uses its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top says when, and significant changes are announced to account holders by email.
